SLC6A11（溶质载体家族6成员11，英文全称Solute Carrier Family 6 Member 11）属于SLC6基因家族，该家族主要编码神经递质转运蛋白，负责通过钠离子和氯离子依赖的方式将神经递质从突触间隙转运回神经元或胶质细胞中。SLC6A11也被称为GAT-3（γ-氨基丁酸转运蛋白3），其主要功能是在中枢神经系统中转运抑制性神经递质γ-氨基丁酸（GABA），从而调节GABA能神经传递。GABA是大脑中主要的抑制性神经递质，参与调控神经元兴奋性，因此SLC6A11通过清除突触间隙的GABA来维持神经信号的平衡。SLC6A11主要表达于大脑的星形胶质细胞中，其作用位点集中在突触周围区域，通过调控GABA的再摄取影响神经元的抑制性信号传导。SLC6A11基因突变可能导致其转运功能异常，进而影响GABA的清除效率，可能引发癫痫、焦虑或其他神经系统疾病。研究表明，SLC6A11的突变或表达异常与某些形式的癫痫和精神障碍相关，因为GABA信号系统的紊乱会直接导致神经元过度兴奋或抑制不足。如果SLC6A11过表达，可能导致突触间隙中GABA被过度清除，从而减少GABA对神经元的抑制作用，可能引发焦虑、失眠或癫痫发作；而如果SLC6A11表达降低，则可能导致GABA在突触间隙积累，增强抑制性信号，可能引起镇静或运动协调障碍。SLC6A11所在的SLC6基因家族成员大多具有类似的跨膜转运蛋白结构，依赖钠离子和氯离子进行底物转运，并且多数参与神经递质（如5-羟色胺、多巴胺、GABA等）的再摄取过程。该家族基因的突变或表达异常通常与神经系统疾病、精神障碍或代谢性疾病相关。
